Earthbound Environmental Solutions, LLC and the Eau Claire area Economic Development are pleased to announce that Earthbound Environmental Solutions, LLC has been selected to receive a Sustainable Eau Claire Award from the City of Eau Claire. In 2014, Earthbound Environmental Solutions, LLC was a top five finalist for the Eau Claire Area EDC’s Idea Challenge.

During the Idea Challenge competition the Earthbound team presented their idea of bringing organics recycling to the Chippewa Valley. After four years of program development and participating in the Idea Challenge, Earthbound launched their first of its kind curbside services, initially focusing on supporting area residents by offering curbside organics and yard waste collection as well as traditional materials such as garbage and recycling.

In the Fall of 2015 Earthbound launched its commercial collection services providing organics recycling to the local restaurant industry, as well as other local businesses and faith-based organizations in Eau Claire.

“as a woman entrepreneur, I knew when designing a program like Earthbound that it needed to be so much more than just a business providing services. For this reason I knew it was important early on to engage strategic stakeholders such as the Eau Claire area EDC to assist us in the development of a program who’s reach could affect many areas of our daily lives including affecting the way we think of materials often referred to as waste.”

Since finishing as a top five finalist in the Idea Challenge Earthbound continues to deliver on their mission to develop opportunities to creatively shape the lives and enrich the communities and environments with thrive in. In addition to environmental stewardship the Earthbound team is passionate in their pursuit to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Zacharious Pappas, co-owner of Earthbound shared that

“both Jamie and I believe that an inherent responsibility of the private sector is to create not just jobs, but also meaningful employment opportunities for all community members. We have been pleased with our initial successes in our Everyone program, which provides job training and meaningful employment opportunities for all community members including folks with disabilities. We are excited to continue to expand this program throughout 2016.”
