July 8, 2010 (Eau Claire, WI) – The Idea Challenge is seeking new product ideas from Eau Claire area innovators and entrepreneurs. This local, year round program is designed to engage local residents in the process of ideation and innovation. The program’s goal is to facilitate early-stage business development, eventually creating new products and companies in the Eau Claire area. The contest began in 2007 and is sponsored by the Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corporation.

Local business development professionals are available to review ideas and assist in developing action plans. All ideas remain the property of Idea Challenge participants, unless otherwise agreed upon by all parties involved.

“The Idea Challenge allows individuals with product ideas, who may be running into obstacles, to seize their potential opportunity. Typical obstacles many may experience include limited business experience as well as limited time.” Stated Brian Doudna, Executive Director of the Eau Claire Area EDC.

The Idea Pathway on the Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corporation’s website provides information on idea development, business plan writing, product and idea financing, as well as regulations and permit information. A case study example for those interested in what the Idea Challenge process entails is also available.
